Hatchery and Research Resources

Our hatchery specializes in bivalve seed production (mussels, oysters and clams). We collaborate with farmers to optimize production and use local broodstock whenever possible.

Seed Pricing:
Mussel on rope (2-5 mm): $10/ft
Pacific Oyster (diploid, 2-4 mm): $13.20/1,000

Minimum order of 500-ft for mussels and 1 million for oysters. Please contact us for smaller orders. Custom sizes and production options available.

Holdfast Aquaculture offers a variety of LIVE microalgae cultures to support your aquaculture and research needs.

We are developing a cryopreservation program to preserve gametes and genetic diversity for future breeding efforts.

Key benefits will include:
- Access to gamete stocks, including tetraploids, without the need for broodstock.
- Preservation of genetic diversity, safeguarding against biodiversity loss and gene flow bottlenecks.

Small tanks (<50 gal): $15/day or $150/month
Medium (50-150 gal): $50/day or $500/month
Large (>150 gal): $100/day or $1,000/month

Plumbing service, including professional setup and optimization by our team, available for additional fee.

Access to common seawater resources, drains, utilities, WiFi and a work desk are included in the rental fee.

We have a variety of aquaculture equipment of varying sizes for rent.

Chillers: $10/day or $100/month
Pumps: $5/day or $50/month
Filters: $5/day or $50/month
UV lamps: $7/day or $70/month

Rates include utility fees.

Daily Checks (includes water quality monitoring, system integrity checks, and alerts): $20/day or $500/month

System Optimization or Repairs: $50/hour

Our team of industry and research professionals are here to help with project design, execution, analysis and reporting.

- Biological Oceanography, Shellfish Biology, Molecular Biology: $200/hour or $800/day
- Retail and Wholesale Seafood Distribution: $100/hour or $400/day
- Recirculating Aquaculture Systems Design: $150/hour or $600/day
- Grant Writing: $200/hour or $800/day
